Welcome to the blog of Mac’s Local Buys.  We are excited to share our stories with you, and to hear from you. Mac’s Local Buys is a small family owned business. We came about simply from our own desire to eat healthy foods and our passion to support local farmers and producers. Our goal now, is to share these amazing products with you!  We are firm believers that gathering around the table and sharing a meal is one of life’s greatest gifts. The food on that table should be seasonal, clean and nutrient-dense, not too mention DELICIOUS. Finding these foods, at a price that was affordable for our family, is what inspired our first whole animal buy. Soon, we had more and more friends wanting to join in. Little did we know, after that first whole animal buy, that a few years later we would be working directly with farmers to source premium pastured meats for families and restaurants in the Saint Louis metropolitan area but that is exactly what happened!

Mac’s Local Buys focuses on sourcing animals from local farmers who are stewards of the land. We work with farmers who truly believe in raising animals in humane conditions, where they are allowed to engage in their instinctive biological behaviors and who believe that unnecessary hormones, antibiotics and toxins, are just that…unnecessary.

Mac’s Local Buys makes purchasing local, premium proteins for your family affordable. We organize and coordinate whole animal buys for groups of people. This not only provides a good variety of cuts/items in each share and the best price, it also happens to be what is best for the environment, the farmer and end user. In addition to whole animal buys we sell retail cuts, cater backyard parties and wedding, have two seasonal local food subscriptions, offer bacon/sausage making classes and have been know to throw a few pretty stellar pig roast events in the area.

In the end Mac’s Local Buys, is just what is was in the beginning – a group of folks, working together with a common purpose, to eat healthier foods, while supporting our local community.
